Occasionally a chance shot will turn into a lasting memory. This photo was taken in the predawn light near Mammoth Hot Springs. It was one of those below freezing mornings in mid-September that can be so unexpectedly crisp, yet so refreshing.

The day turned out to be a crystal clear blue sky thing of beauty.
