Moose

There is a relatively small moose population in YNP. There may only be about 200 or so. There are more in the Grand Tetons where there seems to be better forage for them. They are the largest of the deer family and need a lot to eat.

This moose mother was taking good care of her calf. In the lower photo she was aware of the photographer and had hidden her calf. The photos were taken in the fall of 2009 near Trout Lake and were sent to me by Laurie Lyman.
